Introduction

As a functional and administrative body, the Department is responsible for implementing the foreign policies of the university, coordinating the exchanges and cooperation between universities and counterparts both at home and abroad.

The main functions include:

Ø To organize, draft and implement the schemes and development plans of foreign exchanges and cooperation;

Ø To establish relevant rules and regulations for foreign affairs, including work related to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan areas, and organize the implementation of these rules and regulations;

Ø To plan and implement major foreign reception activities;

Ø To plan foreign affair activities of the University in an overall way, and provide foreign information and contact services for the pedagogies, scientific researches and international exchanges of each school;

Ø To review and approve international conferences and relevant services;

Ø To recruit and approve foreign experts, and coordinate and manage their work and life;

Ø To liaise, negotiate, review and approve schools running abroad;

Ø To manage faculty’s visits abroad (or outside border) on business and students’ visits abroad (or outside border), and perform education on them prior to the trips;

Ø To coordinate and manage the international exchange and cooperation projects, including the formulation of exchange plans, the drafting of cooperation agreements, the follow-ups and services of project execution, so as to promote the development of the projects in an orderly way;

Ø To comprehensively plan the overseas exchange programs for students;

Ø To coordinate and manage various matters of international students, exchange students and exchange scholars, including their enrollment, pedagogic management, funding management, international alumni liaison;

Ø To facilitate the communications, cooperation, co-construction and sharing between local governments, domestic colleges, research institutes, enterprises and and military units;

Ø To centrally administer external liaison and cooperation;

Ø To liaise with IOC and Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and carry out work related to Olympic education

Ø To coordinate with the Secretariat of Beijing Municipal Primary and Middle School Olympic Education Office, and manage Olympic Education Museum;

Ø To enroll international students;

Ø To manage international students, and coordinate the pedagogic management of international students in secondary schools and graduate departments;

Ø To construct and manage Chinese Pedagogy and Research Section;

Ø To supervise the integrity of the Division;

Ø To manage the post arrangement, the appointment, management, training and assessment of personnel and the political and ideological work;

Ø To construct and improve the security network and perform other work assigned by superior departments and school leaders.

The Section is responsible for the exchanges and cooperation between the university and counterparts abroad and in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan areas; the review and application of faculty’s business visits abroad and to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the handling of overseas certificates and the management of their business licenses.

Secretariat of Olympic Education Office

The Secretariat is responsible for coordinating with Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Education and Public Participation Section, Media and Communications Department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and assisting in carrying out Olympic education and ice and snow games for primary and middle school students.
